Sexually assaulted Class 4 student by showing her obscene video; 54-year-old man was sentenced to 62 years in prison

NADAPURAM: A court has sentenced a 54-year-old man to 62 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 85000 for sexually assaulting a mentally challenged girl. Nanminda native Sivadasan was sentenced by Nadapuram Fast Track Special Court (POCSO) Judge M Suhaib.

The incident related to the case took place in 2018. Sivadasan was found guilty of sexually assaulting the child, who was a Class 4 student then, multiple times by showing her obscene videos and taking her to a nearby house under construction and a woodshed. He also threatened to kill the girl if she revealed the incident to anyone.

The accused, who came as a helper when the girl's father was seriously injured in a car accident, sexually exploited the child several times. The incident came to light after the child told about the incident to a relative when she went to stay at the relative's house. Following this, the relative reported the information to the child line. ChildLine then passed over the information to Balussery Police. Following this, Balussery police recorded the child's statement and arrested Sivadasan.
