THRISSUR: Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency NDA candidate Suresh Gopi who started his road show on Monday is now concentrating more on the district's rural belt. In attendance are housewives and children, mostly in awe seeing the film star turned politician in close range. Suresh Gopi spoke to Kerala Kaumudi when the campaign reached Chazhoor in the Nattika assembly constituency on Tuesday.

How much confidence does the two-day campaigning bring to the NDA camp?

This is just the beginning of the campaign. The response has been overwhelming. People's lives are the main topic of discussion. People are evaluating the activities of the central government. Expectations are high.

I can give you more than a hundred reasons why Modi will return to power in India. I have printed it. Just spread it to people and it will be enough for them to assess why that man is suitable for India. Modi’s impact and influence are now spreading across the world. So why not in Kerala?

You have contested unsuccessfully from Thrissur twice. How are the hopes this time?

I have been here since 2016. Not as a film actor, but as a political servant. I am now well-known among people. I first contested in 2019 and then in 2021. But this time I came to win. The people of Thrissur will place the crown on my head. They will give me Thrissur this time. Leave no doubts about that.

About BJP's campaign promising a new central minister from Thrissur?

A central minister for Thrissur is the hope of the people. However, it is not my way of campaigning. People want a minister from Thrissur and they will express it. Many people are waiting for my help. For that I need money and I can make it only through movies. But I can assure you that if elected, I will be exceptional in my role as an MP. But I am never going to leave cinema, it is my niche.
