Rejected love; 19-year-old slashes girl's throat, arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have arrested Arif (19) from Anas Manzil, Arikkadamukku, Pravachambalam, who fled after attempting to kill a girl student. Arif was arrested from Kulachal, Tamil Nadu.

The incident occurred on Monday night around 7 o'clock at Pottavila on Pravachambalam Convent Road, where Arif attacked a student from M G College with a blade, injuring her neck. The victim received treatment at the Medical College Hospital and the police have registered a case of attempted murder.

A special investigation team led by Fort AC has been formed to investigate the case. Police and forensic teams conducted inspections at the scene of the incident on Tuesday. Arif was brought to the scene for evidence collection. According to Nemam CI Prajeesh, the motive behind the attack was rooted in frustration due to rejection of love.
