More than one and half kg of gold seized from two passengers including woman at Kochi airport

KOCHI: The Customs officials seized more than one and a half kg of gold from two persons, including a woman, at the Nedumbassery airport. The gold was seized from Ayesha, a native of Kasaragod, and Faisal, a native of Malappuram.

Ayesha tried to smuggle gold in the form of a hairband and by plating silver on a gold key chain and earring. However, she was caught red-handed by the Customs Department at the airport. Ayesha tried to smuggle 885 grams of gold in this way. She arrived at Kochi Airport from Malaysia. Customs inspection revealed that the silver-plated earring seized from her weighed 43 grams.

886 grams of gold was seized from Faisal, a native of Malappuram who came from Bahrain. Faisal tried to smuggle gold by hiding it inside socks and in liquid form.
