Ready to hold talks with Congress on seat sharing; Congress should take decision, says CPM Bengal unit

KOLKATA: The CPM has announced that it is ready to hold talks with the Congress on seat sharing in Bengal for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. PB member Biman Bose said that the CPM is not against holding talks on seat sharing and that it is the Congress that should take the decision in this regard.

"Bengal Congress leaders are holding discussions with AICC leaders on the issue of seat sharing. Congress has not announced a final decision on the matter. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has held a discussion on the matter with CPM State Secretary," Biman Bose said.

Meanwhile, the CPM leadership in Bengal on Thursday announced its first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The party announced candidates for 16 seats. CPM will contest in 13 seats while its allies will contest in 3 seats. Candidates for other seats will be announced later.
