Relief from summer heat; possibility of rain and wind in three districts in next few hours, warning

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of rain in three districts in the state in the next few hours. Light rain is predicted at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Palakkad districts. According to the warning, wind gusts of up to 40 km per hour are possible.
At the same time, the Meteorological Department informed that there is no disruption to fishing in Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep coasts. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has informed that there is a possibility of 0.5 to 1.5 meter high waves and storm surge along the Kerala coast and south Tamil Nadu coast till 11:30 pm on Friday.

The Indian Meteorological Department had earlier informed that high temperatures will be recorded in Palakkad and Kollam districts from March 15 to 19. It is reported that the temperature may rise up to 38 degree Celsius. In Alappuzha, Kottayam and Kozhikode districts, the temperature is likely to rise up to 37 degrees Celsius. According to the IMD, the temperature will rise up to 36 degrees Celsius in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts. Yellow alert has been declared in these districts. Due to high temperature and humid air, these districts, except hilly areas, will experience hot and humid weather from 15th to 19th March 2024.
