PATHANAMTHITTA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged NDA MPs to accelerate the development of Kerala. He stated that while the cultured people of Kerala desire development, both the LDF and UDF are fostering violence. Speaking at a public meeting held at the District Stadium in Pathanamthitta, Modi emphasized that both political fronts are draining the energy of Kerala's youth.
Modi criticized the LDF and UDF alleging that they compete in Kerala but collaborate in Delhi. He called for an end to the repetitive cycle of LDF-UDF dominance asserting that Kerala's progress hinges on breaking free from this pattern. He highlighted the challenges faced by rubber farmers and accused the UDF of clinging to outdated practices while criticizing the LDF for engaging in corruption under the guise of various schemes.
Referring to electoral trends, Modi noted a decline in support for Congress and CPM in states like Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and West Bengal suggesting that Kerala might follow suit. He highlighted instances where the CPM was voted out of power in Tripura and Bengal due to public dissatisfaction.
Modi also criticized certain campuses in Kerala accusing them of harboring communist goons. He lamented the breakdown of the legal system and highlighted instances of violence against Christian priests. He criticized both the UDF and LDF for their opposition to legislation such as the law against triple talaq, the OBC Commission and laws providing reservations for economically backward sections.
The speech commenced with Modi invoking 'Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa', which was met with cheers from the audience. He then presented statistics regarding the implementation of central projects in Pathanamthitta district. The meeting was chaired by BJP state president K Surendran, with NDA candidates Anil Antony (Pathanamthitta), Baiju Kalashala (Mavelikkara), Sobha Surendran (Alappuzha), V Muralidharan (Attingal), Thushar Vellapalli (Kottayam) and Padmaja Venugopal in attendance.
