NEW DELHI: Delhi’s Rose Avenue Court on Saturday granted bail to CM Arvind Kejriwal for skipping ED summons in Liquor case. The court observed the bailable sections charged and granted the bail on a bond of Rs 15,000. Kejriwal arrived at the court for a hearing at 10 am amidst tightened security.
Aam Aadmi Party was all prepared to hit the streets with protest if the Delhi CM were to be arrested. The Metropolitan Magistrate's Court had earlier directed Kejriwal to appear before the court in the petition filed by ED alleging the Delhi CM of not cooperating with the investigation. The Delhi court even squashed a petition filed by Kejriwal on Friday. The court asked Kejriwal to move to Trial Court with the petition. Earlier, the Delhi CM had refused to appear before ED even after receiving eight summons.
The magistrate metropolitan court earlier denounced Kejriwal’s refusal to appear before ED officials saying Kejriwal had failed his legal responsibility while occupying the office as Delhi CM.
