'In regret, my abuser texted me...'; actress Shruthi Rajanikanth shares ordeal

Shruthi Rajanikanth, the actress who amassed a large following through her character in the tele series ‘Chakkapazham’ has revealed the reason for her recurring trauma and depression. Her interview with the YouTube channel ‘Milestone Makers’ is currently being discussed in film circles. Shruthi finally garnered the courage to confess about the sexual molestation she was subjected to in her childhood, and that too from her close relative.

Shruthi Rajanikanth:

As a child, I had to face sexual abuse from a relative. Even people in my house are unaware of this incident. I have not told anyone except a few people. I remember slapping the person who came to molest me when I was barely 10. These incidents may be normal, but the bruises suffered will travel with us forever.

The incent still haunts me and for the same reason I have advised my friends to not do any pranks on me. If someone comes close to me from behind or in a strange way, my initial response would be to slap him. When I was abused back in my childhood, I screamed in fear and resisted. I knew that I had the power to resist and the maximum retaliation I could face was death, and I was not scared by that fact.

The man who abused me later got blessed with a girl child. Caught in regret, he texted me apologizing for the irreparable ‘bruise’ he gave me in my childhood. I texted back wishing him good luck for the future. He now fears my presence, maybe at the thought that something bad would happen to his daughter.

Shruthi revealed the abuser as one of her cousins.
