THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In an open letter to KSRTC employees, Minister KB Ganeshkumar has reminded that there should be a common sense that passengers are the masters and should be treated with respect. "Conductors should help senior women, children and old people if they find it difficult to climb the high steps of the bus. Passengers should be treated like members of the family. In case of bad attitude, the management will be forced to take strict action," Ganesh Kumar said in his letter.
"Maximum consideration should be given to women, children, senior citizens and disabled persons in allocating seats. After 10 pm, buses, including Super Fast, should be stopped at the places requested by the passengers. There should be no complaint that women and children are left in the dark."
"Even if it is one person, the bus should be stopped on waving hands. The bus should be stopped at the left side on the road and blocks should be avoided. The bus should be washed and kept clean at intervals. There should be no delay in office files. Complaints of passengers should be dealt with patiently. There should be no fear of legal action against mishaps arising in the line of duty."
However, the open letter does not mention salary distribution.
Health and safety scheme for employees
The minister also informed that the scheme for health care and medical facilities of the employees is under consideration. The project will include diagnostic tests and follow-up treatment facilities at leading hospitals including RCC and Malabar Cancer Center. Employees undergoing dialysis, chemotherapy etc. will be given special consideration and relaxation in duty. AC restrooms will be provided for employees and restrooms with modern facilities will be provided for passengers at bus stations.
