KANNUR: Congress leader and Kannur UDF candidate K Sudhakaran’s cavalcade was blocked by UDF supporters in Kannur’s Srikandapuram. The video of the incident went viral across social media resulting in embarrassment for the congress' top brass.

The agitated supporters surrounded Sudhakaran’s vehicle and confronted the congress leader for failing to fulfil poll promises when he was elected in 2019 with a huge majority. The roads in this region have been in dilapidated condition for a long and are unfit for a comfy ride. It is alleged that Sudhakaran who earlier vowed to build better roads, never cared to look into the issue for the past four years.

Sudhakaran and MLA Sajeev Joseph arrived in two cars at 8 pm on Thursday. There was also a pilot vehicle in front leading the congress leaders.

After getting news about Sudhakaran’s scheduled visit to Kannur, almost 50 protestors including workers from UDF and League gathered in the area to vent out their anger. The local leaders of Congress worked hard to alleviate tensions but to no avail. It was after a laborious work of persuasion that the protestors backed off.
