ALUVA: The police are investigating the role of Rent A Car group in the case of abducting three youths from the premises of the railway station. Two who rented the car used for the incident are in custody. They are intermediaries and they are being grilled. The car used for kidnapping the youths was found abandoned in Kaniyapuram. The incident that shook the state happened Sunday morning at 7.10 am.
The car is owned by a resident of Kumbalam in Pathanamthitta. The statement of the ASI of Pathanamthitta A R camp, who took the car for rent, has been recorded. The statement given by the ASI is that he rented the car and gave it to his friend and said that he does not know anything else.
The four-member group who came in a luxury car beat the three youths and kidnapped them in the car. Eyewitnesses reported the incident to the police. The police then examined the nearby CCTV footage and confirmed the incident.
Another person was also kidnapped from the same place last Friday morning by a car-borne group. He was later found in Kollam. As there were no complainants in both the incidents, the police filed a suo moto case. The police are investigating whether there is any connection between the two incidents.
