PALAKKAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Palakkad on Tuesday to campaign for NDA in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. BJP Kerala Prabhari Prakash Javadekar and State President K Surendran welcomed PM Modi, who landed at Palakkad Mercy College ground in a helicopter from Coimbatore.
BJP candidates from Palakkad, Ponnani and Malappuram Lok Sabha constituencies also participated in the road show led by PM Modi. Braving the scorching heat, thousands lined up in the aisle of the roadside to see glimpses of their leader. Showering petals and chanting slogans followed while small children were also in attendance to witness the scenes of euphoria.
The roadshow will cover a distance of 1.5 km from Anchuvilakku to Sultanpet. The show started exactly at 10:50 am. As per the latest report, PM Modi has successfully finished the roadshow and will return to Tamil Nadu via Moyans School Junction, Town Railway Overpass, Shakuntala Junction, BEM School Junction to Mercy College ground.
Almost 5000 police officials have been deployed in the region as part of security measures. PM Modi who since 2023 has put forward his political intention to wrest control of the south has now opted only two places in Kerala for campaigning — Pathanamthitta and Palakkad.
As per analysts, both constituencies are conducive for BJP to reap votes while in Pathanamthitta it is now expected that BJP can outshine Congress to create a major upset.
