PALAKKAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Palakkad on Tuesday to campaign for NDA in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. BJP Kerala Prabhari Prakash Javadekar and State President K Surendran welcomed PM Modi, who landed at Palakkad Mercy College ground in a helicopter from Coimbatore.

Braving the scorching heat, thousands lined up in the aisle of the roadside to see glimpses of their leader. Showering petals and chanting slogans followed while small children were also in attendance to witness the scenes of euphoria.

The roadshow will cover a distance of 1.5 km from Anchuvilakku to Sultanpet. The show started exactly at 10:50 am. Almost 5000 police officials have been deployed in the region as part of security measures. PM Modi who since 2023 has put forward his political intention to wrest control of the south has now opted only two places in Kerala for campaigning — Pathanamthitta and Palakkad.

As per analysts, both constituencies are conducive for BJP to reap votes while in Pathanamthitta it is now expected that BJP can outshine Congress to create a major upset.
