Climax of Thalapathy Vijay's 'GOAT' was initially planned to be shot in Sri Lanka, but it was shifted to T'puram due to this

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Vijay, who came to Thiruvananthapuram for the shooting of 'GOAT' directed by Venkat Prabhu, received an enthusiastic reception from his fans at the airport. Thousands of fans were waiting for their beloved 'Thalapathy' with cutouts from 7 am. Ending their long wait, the superstar arrived at the domestic airport at 5 pm yesterday.

Vijay, who arrived in a chartered plane, came out under the guard of private security forces. By the time Vijay got into the car, the fans covered him. The actor, sporting a new hair style and a clean shaven look, opened the sunroof of the car and waved at the fans, who in turn welcomed him with flowers. The police arrived and separated the fans and the car moved forward. A huge police team came to control the fans but the airport road witnessed a major traffic jam.

The climax of 'GOAT', which was supposed to be shot in Sri Lanka, was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram. This was because Bhavatharani, daughter of Ilayaraja and cousin of Venkat Prabhu, succumbed to cancer while undergoing treatment in Sri Lanka.

Vijay will be in Thiruvananthapuram till March 23. The prime location is Greenfield Stadium and International Airport. Director Venkat Prabhu had visited the capital two weeks ago to inspect the location.

Earlier, Vijay came to Kerala for the shooting of the film Velayudham in 2011. The shooting was at Ernakulam Kaloor Stadium that day. Before that, the shooting of 'Kaavalan' took place in Palakkad. Vijay was in Thiruvananthapuram to celebrate the success of Pokkiri in 2007 and Vettaikaran in 2009.
