Man kills daughter-in-law, self: Police recovers air pistol supposedly used to shoot Shanu before slitting her throat

PARAVUR: In the incident where a father-in-law hanged himself after killing his son's wife, the Vaddakekara police recovered an air pistol from the house. Sebastian (66), of Kanappilly House in Kochangadi in Vadakkumpuram, killed his son Sinoj's wife Shanu (34 and committed suicide. The reason for the murder was a long-standing family feud. The police said that Sebastian shot Shanu with an air pistol and she has got a bullet wound on his forehead.

Police said that it is possible that Shanu was shot to kill before slitting her throat. The air pistol was recovered from the kitchen of the house.

Sebastian bought the air pistol, which did not require a license, from a shop in Ernakulam. Two pellets are used in the airpistol. The police said that with the permission of the court, a scientific test will be conducted to find out whether it is an air pistol with an increased impact capacity.

The postmortem of Sebastian and Shanu was conducted at the Ernakulam Medical College Hospital. Sebastian's body was cremated at Cherupushpam Church in Koottukadu.
