PATHANAMTHITTA: The CPM district secretariat meeting in Pathanamthitta witnessed verbal exchange and fisticuff between the leaders over the election campaign of Thomas Isaac. Two district secretariat leaders were engaged in the verbal dispute. It is indicated that the senior CPM leader among the two has expressed his willingness to resign. According to sources, the heated argument broke out between the two after a criticism was raised stating that the election campaign for Thomas Isaac was not up to mark.

Earlier, criticism was raised against Thomas Isaac over his campaign works in Pathanamthitta. The UDF had alleged that Isaac was using Kudumbashree, Haritha Karma Sena and ASHA workers for campaigning. However, Isaac denied this allegation. Speaking to the media, Isaac said that as a candidate, there was nothing wrong with going to the place where the Kudumbashree meeting was taking place and asking for votes. Isaac said this after the District Collector sought an explanation from him over the alleged violation of the moral code of conduct.

"I have many years of association with Kudumbashree. I was the chairman of the committee that formed that movement. The employment scheme 'Vijnana Pathanamthitta' was launched before the announcement of elections. It is implemented through K-DISC. K-DISC will continue that work. I am not getting involved in that now as I am a candidate. The Congress has come forward with a complaint due to its fear of failure. I will give a proper reply to the Collector's letter," Thomas Isaac said.
