Memorial tombs of CPM leaders vandalized in Payyambalam

KANNUR: The memorial tombs of CPM leaders including former Chief Minister EK Nayanar were vandalized in Payyambalam. Some polish like chemical has been poured over the memorials. Apart from Nayanar, this chemical was also poured over the memorials of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Chadayan Govindan and O Bharathan.

The most defaced is Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's memorial. It is reported that there was no attack on the nearby memorials of Congress leaders or on the memorial tomb of CMP leader MV Raghavan. It is not clear who is behind the incident. Police reached the spot and started investigation. The police suspect that this is a deliberate attempt by some people to create problems.

CPM central committee member PK Sreemathi alleged that this was a planned attempt to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the area by provoking the party workers. She said that the people should understand that there is a conspiracy behind this to disrupt the peace in Kannur.
