BENGALURU: NIA on Thursday confirmed the arrest of one man in connection with the Rameshwaram café bomb blast. Muzammil Sharif, a native of Karnataka was arrested 28 days after the incident.
Sharif is doubted as the brain behind the blast. NIA has also identified the man who planted the bomb and recognized him as Mussavir Shasiq Hussain. Mussavir is currently at large. The team has started the search for him and has also zeroed in on Abdul Mateen Taha, who was involved in the planning.
On March 1, the blast took place at a cafe in Bengaluru's Whitefield area during peak afternoon hours. Ten people were injured with some even suffering permanent hearing loss. The case was handed over to the NIA on March 3. A reward of Rs 10 lakh was also announced for those who provided information about the accused. The NIA had also assured that the identity of the informers would not be disclosed. Officials have also released the picture of the suspect obtained from the CCTV footage of the cafe.
