Central agency should investigate Panoor bomb blast; Shafi Parambil lodges complaint with Election Commission

KANNUR: Shafi Parambil, the UDF candidate in the Vadakara Lok Sabha constituency, has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission central agencies should conduct an investigation into the Panoor bomb blast to find the conspiracy regarding the incident.

In his complaint, Shafi Parambil alleged that bombs were made at Panoor in Koothuparamba assembly constituency with the knowledge of CPM district and state leaders. Although a serious violation of law had taken place, the police registered a case only under minor sections of the Explosives Act. The police were ready to charge the accused with murder only after the death of the injured person. This indicates that there was political intervention in the probe. Despite the charge of murder, the police are not ready to investigate the bomb-making or the conspiracy behind it under the leadership of the CPM, Shafi said in his complaint.

Although it was found that the bomb was made to assassinate CPM's political opponents, the police are not ready to impose UAPA. This has strengthened the suspicion that the case will be sabotaged. In this case, investigation by the central agency is necessary, Shafi said. He also stated in the complaint that the Election Commission's urgent intervention is required to conduct peaceful elections.
