Dr MK Ramachandran, Kerala doctor honoured by King Charles, dies in London

LONDON: British national honoree Dr MK Ramachandran (86) passed away in London. Ramachandran who has been practicing modern medicine for the past 50 years, has also excelled in homeopathy and acupuncture.

King Charles honoured Dr MK Ramachandran at St James's Palace in 2005 for his services in the field of complementary medicine. It was a function held to honour people who made exceptional contributions in the field of complementary medicines.

It was in 1974 that Ramachandran reached London from Kozhikode and made up his mind to settle his future in the English capital. In London, he worked in many famous hospitals and four years later he served as a general practitioner in the London suburb of East Tilbury. In Tilbury, Ramachandran mostly practised homoeopathy but also shifted to modern medicine treatment when demanded by patients.

Dr MK Ramachandran had a deep affiliation with art and literature, and he always held Kozhikode close to his heart.

He is survived by his wife Rema, Children: Ramina, Rashita, Rahesh, and Grandchildren: Anusha, Rhea, Lakshmi.

Ramachandran hails from Mannathu Kulangara house in Kozhikode Kallayi. The famous Pushpa theatre in Kozhikode once belonged to Ramachandran’s family. The final rites took place on Tuesday (March 26) in North London.
