'Kicked child when sitting on mother's lap', shocking audio recording related to murder of toddler by her father released

MALAPPURAM: In the case of the murder of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl by her father in Kalikavu, an audio recording is out revealing the brutality of the accused. The recording captures Mohammad Faiz's brother-in-law, Ansar, discussing the incident with a neighbour. According to Ansar, Faiz kicked the child while she was sitting on her mother's lap. When Ansar attempted to intervene, Faiz threatened him. The force of the kick caused the child to spring and fall against the wall.

In the phone conversation, Ansar mentions that he has been asked to provide a statement to the police, which he intends to do. As an eyewitness to the killing, Ansar asserts that Faiz had been mistreating the child consistently and the child's mother was aware of this abuse.

Local residents have alleged that Faiz's mother and sister were also involved in the murder. Ansar further informs that Faiz was opposed to even providing food for the child and he attempted to intervene in this as well. Faiz, who is presently in remand will be taken into custody the following day for further investigation and evidence gathering.
