NEW DELHI: Election strategist Prashant Kishor said that Rahul Gandhi should be prepared to step aside if the Congress party is unable to achieve the expected victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Rahul Gandhi has been leading the party for more than 10 years. Rahul should not hesitate to take a break if the party is not able to perform as expected, Prashant Kishore said.

If Rahul cannot bring about any change in the way he has been leading for 10 years then he should be ready to hand over the leadership position to someone else. Rahul Gandhi's action is undemocratic if he cannot find someone else, he alleged.

"If you've been doing the same job for the past 10 years without any success, it's okay to take a break. Your mother did that." Prashant Kishore pointed out that after the death of Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi stepped down and handed over party duties to Narasimha Rao.

"The mark of a good leader is to find what is lacking and fix it but Rahul's perception is that he knows everything. No one can help you if you are not convinced that you need help," he said, criticizing Rahul.

Rahul had stayed away for some time in the wake of the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, but later acted forgetting his words, Prashant Kishore alleged.
