106 kg gold, cash seized; police suspect Hawala transaction

BALLARI: The Karnataka Police on Monday seized a huge hoard of gold from Ballari. The gold and silver were seized from the house of Naresh Soni, the owner of Hema Jewellers, located in Kambali Bazaar. Police seized gold, silver and cash worth Rs 7.6 crore from the house.

A total of 106 kg of gold and 68 silver bars were seized from the house. Currency notes were also confiscated by the police officials.

The Karnataka police suspect the seized items are the proceeds of the hawala transaction. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to find more details about the alleged transactions. Naresh Soni, who was taken into custody, is currently being interrogated in connection with the case.
