KOLLAM: Popular businessman Boby Chemmanur’s fundraising campaign titled ‘Yachaka Yatra’, reached Kollam on Wednesday. Boby initiated the campaign to help amass Rs 34 crore for the release of Farook native Abdul Rahim who is currently waiting death sentence in Saudi Arabia. The ‘Yatra’ which started from Thiruvananthapuram Thampanoor will culminate in Kasaragod.
The fundraiser is being conducted with the support of members from Boby Chemmanur Fans Charitable Trust. The Yatra aims to win public attention and thus wants people to donate to the account of Abdul Rahim Legal Assistance Committee Trust. A ransom of Rs 34 crore has to be paid before the 16th of April, to help Abdul come out from the throes of stringent Saudi rules. In a press conference held, Boby confirmed about amassing Rs eight crore and requested people to help reach the target.
Donations are not accepted in cash. Instead, money can be sent directly to Abdul Rahim's mother Pathu's number via Google Pay. Donations are sent to the account of Abdul Rahim Legal Assistance Committee Trust which is now easily available on Boby Chemmanur’s social media pages.
