False propaganda inciting religious hatred on X against Kerala textbook

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Disinformation targeting a state-approved textbook is being disseminated on social media platform X to incite religious hatred. The textbook's image and content, shared on X by an account called Mr Sinha, incite rivalry and animosity between Muslim and Hindu groups. However, such a textbook is not being taught in state schools. Following the instruction of Minister V Sivankutty, the Education Department filed a complaint with the DGP regarding this.

In its complaint, the Education Department stated that the picture was being circulated on social media as part of an attempt to spread hatred about Kerala. It demanded that the content on X should be removed and legal action should be taken against the one who created the post.

A photo that Mr Sinha posted features two confectioners belonging to two communities. The lesson begins with the question, 'From whom will you buy sweets? Why?' There is also another controversial lesson which exemplifies the hygiene habits of two children belonging to different religions.

In his post, Mr Sinha alleged that the Kerala government was teaching lessons in schools by presenting both religions with discrimination. He also alleged that the communists were brainwashing children. More than 20 lakh people have seen the post. Mr Sinha describes himself on X as 'Modi's family'.
