THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The motor vehicle department took to social media to advise that people should avoid taking pets on two-wheelers. The post details the dangers of travelling with pets on two-wheelers and how to ensure their safety.

Pets may jump or fall at any time while travelling. It can cause serious injury or even death. Animal movements are unpredictable and can distract the driver and cause major accidents.

Two-wheelers should be ridden with pets only under absolutely unavoidable circumstances. In such situations, safety arrangements should be made including a pet carrier that can be attached to the vehicle. Harnesses or safety straps should be used to keep pets from moving inside the carrier during the ride. Care should be taken that these are not tight and tangled. Pets must be used to these pet carriers.
