THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Considering the rush of inter-state passengers during the vacation season, KSRTC has introduced Flexi charges till mid-summer vacation. The flexi rates will be implemented in May, June and July. Flexi Charge is a system that adjusts ticket prices for inter-state buses. Interstate buses will operate by reducing the fare by up to 15 percent from Tuesday to Thursday, when there will be fewer passengers, and increasing the fare by up to 30 percent from Friday to Monday. The aim is to prevent inter-state passengers from relying on private buses. When contrasted with KSRTC buses, private buses have higher rates.
An order in this regard was issued based on the decision of the meeting chaired by the Financial Adviser and Chief Accounts Officer last month. The flexi charge system has been implemented with the aim of increasing the revenue of KSRTC. Fares will be increased for buses including AC, Express and Deluxe. Earlier, the KSRTC had received good responses from the public when it introduced rates on the same pattern during the Onam and Christmas seasons. Only online reservations will be allowed on days in which flexi charge is levied. KSRTC will operate more services to Bengaluru, Chennai and Mysuru.
