KOCHI: Saiju A V, a former circle inspector of Malayinkeezhu police station, was found hanging Wednesday morning. He is a native of Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram. A case was registered against him for sexually abusing a doctor. He was found hanging in a tree near the Kochi Ambedkar Stadium.

The Kerala High Court had quashed the bail granted after he submitted forged documents in the sexual abuse case. He was found dead after the move of the crime branch to arrest him. Saiju was an accused in the case of forcibly abusing a dentist who was resting at home after a surgery. It was alleged that an influential ADGP in the government was protecting Saiju, a pro-left police organization leader, without terminating him. Saiju was the district leader of the police officers’ association.

Saiju is an accused in two rape cases. A female doctor and a teacher had filed a complaint against Saiju while he was serving as inspector in the Malayinkezhu station. The case is that he sexually abused the doctor, who came to file a complaint, on the pretext of marriage. The court had later found that Saiju had forged documents to get bail in the case. His bail was later cancelled.

The Nedumangad police had registered a case against him on the complaint of threatening and abusing a teacher, his family friend. Saiju had taken tuitions for her. The complaint is that he took advantage of this acquaintance and took her to many places and sexually abused her after threat.
