KARUNAGAPPALLI: The head nurse of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College who went missing from Thiruvananthapuram was found dead in a lodge room in Karunagappalli. The deceased is Thiruvananthapuram Malayinkeezhu native Bijukumar (51).
Bijukumar's wife Shalini had filed a complaint with the Malayinkeezhu police saying that Bijukumar had been missing since Monday afternoon.
Both Bijukumar and Shalini are head nurses at the Medical College. On Monday morning, they were 10 minutes late to report for duty in the morning shift. Following this, both of them were not allowed to be on duty. The two left the hospital on Bijukumar's bike, saying that they would come back for duty in the afternoon shift. As they reached Thampanoor, Bijukumar dropped Shalini on the roadside and asked her to go home by walking. He then went away saying that he would come home soon.
However, Biju did not return hours after Shalini reached home. Although she called him on the phone, he did not pick them up. Following this, she lodged a complaint with the Malayinkeezhu police on Monday night. During the investigation conducted focusing on Bijukumar's bike, the police found that he had gone to Kollam. He was found dead in the lodge at 5 pm yesterday while the police were intensifying the investigation.
Bijukumar took a room in a lodge near the KSRTC bus stand in Karunagappalli on Tuesday morning. The staff of the lodge contacted the Karunagapalli police as Biju did not open the door till the evening. When the police reached and opened the room, Bijukumar was found dead. The preliminary conclusion is that he may have consumed poison. The police completed the inquest and handed over the body to the relatives. Biju has two children: Rahul and Vandana.
