CHENNAI: Justice N Anand Venkatesh of the Madras High Court said that there was a mistake in the judgment made six years ago and it should be reconsidered. His disclosure was during an event organized by Madras Bar Association Academy and Rakesh Law Foundation, the other day. Anand Venkatesh added that real change comes when you realize that you have committed a mistake and are willing to correct it.

After his elevation as high court judge on June 4 in 2018, he got the chance of sharing a division bench with Justice M M Sundresh, a Supreme Court judge. Anand Venkatesh said that he encouraged me a lot and allowed him to write many judgments.

He said that there was a mistake in his judgment delivered in Harsha Estate case against P Kalyana Chakravarthy on July 23, 2018. Anand Venkatesh stated that it was only a month since he became a judge, the judgment was pronounced in the excitement of becoming a new judge. The things mentioned in the judgment should be reconsidered. He said that the mistake was realized only after reading the article written by senior advocate R Parthasarathy on this issue and discussing with advocate Sharath Chandran.
