THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V D Satheesan filed a complaint with the Central Election Commission, alleging that fair and transparent polls were not held in the state. In the complaint, he has also demanded a probe on the serious lapses in the conduct of the election.
‘The delay in between two votes created problems in many booths. There were incidents where many people returned in despair after not being able to vote in the extreme heat even after waiting for hours. Many people who reached the booth before 6 pm could not vote in many places. Elections have never been conducted in such a bad way in the state. The state election commission also failed to revise the voters list by avoiding double votes and votes of dead,’ he responded.
Since the other day, various UDF leaders have raised widespread objections regarding the slow polling in various booths in the state. Meanwhile, the opposition leader filed a complaint with the central election commission.
71.16 % of voters exercised their right to vote in the elections to 20 Lok Sabha constituencies held on Friday. Voting lasted till midnight in Vadakara, Malappuram and Kannur constituencies. The reason for this was the malfunctioning of the voting machine leading to stop polling and continuing at a slow pace. There were also accusations that open votes were forced to cast in Kozhikode and Vadakara. Meantime, 77.67% people voted in the last Lok Sabha elections. This time there was a shortfall of six percent. This concerns all three fronts equally.
