KOTTAYAM: Two students were seriously injured after their legs got stuck between the platform and the train while travelling sitting on the door. The passengers of Rajya Rani Express bound for Thiruvananthapuram were plus two and 10th class students. They were on a pleasure trip to Thiruvananthapuram. The accident occurred near Vaikkom at around one yesterday morning. Reports said they are natives of Chaliyar.

The two were sitting with their legs out as they could not get a seat. The fellow passengers hearing their screams rushed to them and found them bleeding profusely. When they reached Vaikom, both of them were taken to Kottayam Medical College Hospital in an ambulance. Their left leg was seriously injured. It is believed that as it was dark they could not see the platform and this may have led to the disaster. Similar incidents have reported earlier also.

The students have deep cuts on their legs and have fractured their bones also. RPF personnel reached the hospital and took the statement of both. Their relatives have reached the hospital.
