Solution to age-old problem of passengers; new way to book tickets; outer border geofencing distance restriction removed

railways-

NEW DELHI: Buying tickets for train travel often creates big inconveniences for the passengers. This difficulty increases tenfold during holidays and festive seasons. Railways has now solved the problem related to ticket booking which passengers have been facing for ages. This has been reported by national media quoting railway officials.

Railways have solved the problem faced by those who buy tickets directly from the counters and not through the mobile app. Railways have removed the distance limit for travel tickets and platform tickets purchased directly from the counters instead of online. When you buy tickets online, you can buy tickets to any railway station in the country. However, this was not the case with counter tickets.

Earlier there was an outer border geofencing distance restriction of 50 km for buying tickets from a station near the passenger's location but now, this restriction has been removed. Passengers can now purchase tickets without such restrictions. Saurabh Kataria, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, said that this change is to simplify the ticket booking process and make it easier for passengers to use the service.
