KANNUR: UDF candidate of Vadakara constituency Shafi Parampil rejected RMP leader K S Hariharan's anti-women remarks. He clarified that he would never justify his remarks.

Shafi Parambil said that his words should not be used not only in speech but also in private conversation. He added that after the event, he and opposition leader V D Satheesan called the RMP leaders and expressed their disagreement.

The opposition leader had earlier responded through a statement that the UDF would not accept Hariharan's statement. The statement also said that leaders should always set an example for others while speaking in public.

K S Hariharan is a member of the RMP central committee. Hariharan's anti-women remark was at even jointly organized by the UDF and the RMP. Hariharan’s controversial remark was while talking about the obscene video controversy in Vadakara constituency in connection with the Lok Sabha elections.

Hariharan’s sexist remarks against former minister K K Shailaja had stoked a controversy. He said ‘‘CPM's cyber goons thought that if they did some things, they would be done. The complaint is for making an obscene video of Shailaja. Will anybody do that?’ Hariharan said, referring to an actress, that one would understand if made against an activist. This remark stoked a controversy.
