THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department said that the state will receive rain for the next five days as a relief from the extreme heat. The meteorological department has also announced yellow alert in various districts from today till May 16.

A chance of isolated heavy rain has been predicted. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
The central meteorological department informed that in the next three hours there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph. Meantime, the central meteorological department has stated that there is no disruption to fishing in the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts.
