Prof Iftekhar Ahamed arrested for sexually assaulting woman at Vismaya Park in Kannur 

KANNUR: A professor has been arrested for sexually assaulting a woman at Vismaya Park in Kannur. The arrested is Professor Iftekhar Ahamed of the Central University at Periya in Kasaragod. The incident happened last evening.

Iftekhar Ahmed misbehaved with the 22-year-old woman from Malappuram in the wave pool of the park. The park authorities informed the police after the woman created a ruckus. A case has been registered against him presently under the Prevention of Violence Against Women Act. He was produced in the court today and has been remanded for two weeks.

A similar complaint was filed against him earlier also. The complaint was that he sexually assaulted a PG first semester student studying in the same university in last November. Following that, he was suspended and further investigation was conducted. There were widespread protests when he returned to work.
