THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A local congress leader who was reinstated back into the party was fired again after KPCC president K Sudhakaran resumed charge in office. Interestingly, K Sudharkaran has now revoked the decision of the interim president M M Hassan’s decision to take back the local leader, who was facing disciplinary action. Hassan had earlier reinstated KPCC secretary M A Latheef, who had been expelled from the party.
K. Sudhakaran had previously informed the media that he would review the decisions taken by M M Hassan in his absence. The commission of inquiry appointed by KPCC had found that Latheef had intervened and instructed V D Satheesan to stop his visit to Muthalapozhi. The investigation report of the party also said that Latheef has been instigating factional work among the party workers in the Chirayinkeezhu constituency.
In 2021, in a first step of punitive action, Latheef was suspended for six months. Latheef was later expelled from the primary membership of the party, at a time when his suspension period was about to end. When K Sudhakaran went to Kannur to contest the Lok Sabha elections, MM Hasan was made the interim president.
