PALAKKAD: An elderly man died after falling into a pit on the road. The incident happened last night in Parakkunnam in Palakkad. The deceased is Sudhakaran, a resident of Vadakkanthara. Sudhakaran fell in the pit dug by the water authority for installing pipes.

Sudhakaran's scooter went out of control and fell into the ditch at around 7:30 pm. Eyewitnesses said that in the fall, he hit his head on a nearby stone and he was taken to hospital after half an hour as there were no vehicles nearby. The local residents alleged that the authorities did not take any action despite the local residents asking for the pit to be covered for three months. Sudhakaran's body was shifted to Thrissur Medical College Hospital.

A teacher died in a car accident in Kulimuttam in Palakkad a few days ago. Mini (48), a geography teacher at Kanchikode Government High School, is the deceased.
