THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family cut short their ongoing foreign trip and reached Thiruvananthapuram at 3:15 am on Saturday. It was earlier informed that the Chief Minister would return to Kerala only on Sunday. This decision given to the office and security officials was changed at the last minute.
Usually, the DGP would be in the entourage to welcome the chief minister from the airport, but on Saturday morning, the police chief’s absence was noted. Except for the security police officials normally assigned to the CM security entourage, no other officials were present at the airport.
The Chief Minister went abroad on the 6th of May to meet his son and family in Dubai. Meanwhile, CM’s son-in-law, Minister P A Mohammed Riyas, and his wife Veena will return on Sunday. Earlier, the chief minister's foreign trip amidst the political dissonance in Kerala invited harsh criticism. CPM central committee member AK Balan gave a clean chit to the CM while the KPCC president questioned the CM’s financial capability to engage in a posh private foreign trip with family.
