ALUVA: Congolese Hangara Pauli (29), a key link in an international drug network, has been arrested. Known as 'Captain' among drug gangs, he was arrested by the Ernakulam Rural District Police from Bengaluru's Madiwala.

Last month, the police had arrested Vipin from Angamaly with 200 grams of MDMA. He was caught while smuggling narcotics in a tourist bus from Bangalore. It was the investigation based on this case that led to the Congo native, said Rural district police chief Dr. Vaibhav Saxena in a press conference. The accused was arrested with the help of Bengaluru police after monitoring him day and night at various places. DYSP A Prasad, ASP Trainee Anjali Bhavana, Inspector P Lal Kumar, SI NS Roy and Senior CPOs MR. Mithun, K.R. Mahesh, CPOs Ajitha Thilakan, AB Surendran, Dansaf team and others were in the investigation team.

He was produced in the court in the evening and remanded.

Came to study and became a 'cook'

Hangara Pauli came to Bengaluru on a student visa in 2014. Later he turned to drug dealing and grew up to be a 'cook' making narcotics.

It is believed that most of the drug reaching Kerala is through his gang. Hangara cannot be reached by phone. The payment has to be made through Google Pa and the drug will be delivered to an unoccupied area. Then the location map will be sent. The customer should go there and collect the package.
