KOCHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed to suspend MG Sabu, the DySP who took part in a feast organized by goonda leader Thammanam Faizal. The disciplinary action against Sabu is amid his retirement from the police force on May 31.

Thammanam Faizal organized the feast on May 26 at his residence in Puliyanam in Angamaly. Faizal's house and premises were under the surveillance of cops. After receiving intel, Rural Police chief Vaibhav Saxena instruced Angamaly SI to check out the place. The sub inspector reached the place while Sabu was feasting with Faizal. On seeing the official, Sabu hid in a bathroom. Faizal told the SI that the other two cops are his workers. All three were taken to the police station, where it was revealed that the other two with Faizal are cops and they came with the DySP. However, Sabu told the Alappuzha police chief that he was at his residence during this time.

On checking the call details of the police officers, it became clear that didn't contact Faizal, who testified that the said DySP didn't come and there was no feast.

Jollymon, a driver of Alappuzha Police special branch, and CK Deepak, a CPO, were suspended for visiting the goonda leader's house.
