NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court registry has refused to accept the application moved by Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking an extension of his interim bail in the excise policy case. The court has directed that Kejriwal should surrender to the Tihar Jail in Delhi on June 2.

On Tuesday, Kejriwal had submitted an application seeking an extension of his interim bail by one more week for undergoing various medical tests. As the Supreme Court has refused to consider this petition, Kejriwal will have to return to jail on June 2. The registry said that the top court had already reserved its verdict in the matter and the application seeking a 7-day extension has no relation to the main petition. As SC had allowed him to move the trial court for obtaining regular bail, the application is not maintainable, it added.

In his application, Kejriwal had stated that he was willing to surrender on June 9. He stated that he was required to undergo medical tests and seven days were needed for this. He also pointed out in the application that he had lost 7 kg in weight after his arrest. On May 10, Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail by the bench headed by Justice Sanjeev Khanna to participate in the election campaigns.
