THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar directed the KSRTC bus drivers not to race. He said the number of accidents can be reduced if paid attention to certain things. Ganesh Kumar said this through a video shared on the official Facebook page of KSRTC.

‘There is an allegation that KSRTC buses create more accidents. There is no other agency in Kerala that drives as many vehicles as we do. The number of accidents will depend on this, but we can reduce it. There is a reduction in accidents after taken a stand against drunk driving and due to the increase in checking.

There are five to seven accidental deaths caused weekly by KSRTC buses. However, this week's figures showed a decline in the number of major accidents. Minor accidents happen. No Swift bus deaths were reported in recent weeks. Drive very carefully and advising youngsters driving Swift buses. Do not speed up and race with other buses while operating long distances.

The passengers are the masters of the bus. Then don't drive in a way scaring the passengers. Should be punctual. If we follow all these, people will travel loyally. Be careful not to cause any harm to people travelling in small vehicles. Avoid competing with private buses. It may sometimes lead to the death of the pedestrians.

The bus should stop on the left side of the road. Do not stop parallel to the bus coming from the opposite side. He said the bus should be stopped if hand is shown and it should be driven in such a way as to save diesel.
