Isaignani Ilayaraja's biopic announced; lead actor shares poster on X

Isaignani Ilayaraja, the towering name in the Indian musical realm is celebrating his 81st birthday today. His oeuvre consists of 4500 songs in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Marathi and various other languages. His works carry a charm, enough to put people into a reverie.

And now, Ilayaraja's biopic has been announced with actor Dhanush set to play the lead role. Dhanush shared the poster of the new film through X.

In the poster, a young man can be seen carefully stroking the keys of a harmonium while the audience looks on with fervour. Arun Matheswaran will direct the movie while Ilayaraja himself will tune the music for the film.

Ilayaraja has won the National Award four times. He has received the Kerala government's Best Music Director award three times and Tamil Nadu government's Best Music Director award six times. The country honoured Ilayaraja with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan.
