KANNUR: The district administration has deployed special forces in Vadakara as the results of the Lok Sabha elections are due on Tuesday. The district collector informed that more police will be deployed in the problem-affected areas. A curfew has been announced near the counting centre from today evening till Tuesday evening. The Collector has directed the political parties to give early notice of the victory demonstrations in Vadakara.

Vadakara is one of the constituencies in the state that saw a tough competition. Vadakara saw a tough fight between LDF's KK Shailaja and UDF's Shafi Parambil. With the results due on Tuesday, both the fronts are confident. Shailaja responded that the Left will have a big victory. Shailaja's response was " There must be some kind of sabotage for LDF to lose in Vadakara. Now it is not possible to say whether such sabotage has happened." Shafi Parambil responded that there will be great joy in the UDF camp when the counting of votes in Vadakara is over.

Strong rooms will open at 5:30 tomorrow morning

The strong rooms where the voting machines are kept will be opened at 5:30 tomorrow morning before the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections. Earlier they were opened after 7:30 am. The Election Commission has directed the officials to reach the spot at 4 am.

The Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballots (ETPB) and postal ballots of those who voted at home will be counted first. The counting of votes in the voting machines will begin in the next half hour. In the presence of the counting agents, the counting supervisor will inspect the voting machine and break the seal after ensuring that there is no damage.

After counting the votes in all the voting machines in each round, the Election Commission's observer will take two random machines from it and ensure that the count recorded in them is correct. After that, the tabulation of that round will be done and the result of that round will be declared and recorded by the returning officer. Verification of VVPAT slips will be done only after the counting of votes in the voting machines of all rounds is completed.

It is estimated that VVPAT slips will be counted at any 5 randomly selected polling stations in all assembly constituencies. It takes at least an hour to count the slips in a VVPAT machine. After this, the final verdict will be announced.
