Suresh Gopi joining union cabinet, to be sworn in on Sunday along with Modi

NEW DELHI: Suresh Gopi, the BJP candidate from Thrissur constituency, is all set to join the union cabinet. It has been hinted that he has got the directive on it from the central leadership. He is likely to be sworn in on Sunday along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, no official confirmation has been obtained.

It was almost sure that Suresh Gopi will be inducted into the cabinet as he is the first BJP MP from Kerala. Suresh Gopi is one close to BJP leadership including Modi. He became a candidate in Thrissur on the instructions of the BJP central leadership.

Suresh Gopi told a private channel in Delhi this morning that he is very happy. He said that he is not taking the burden of being the first BJP Lok Sabha MP from Kerala on his head. I am just another MP. What others cannot do must be done bravely and valiantly. It will be negative to say whether will become a union minister. Many called, advised. He said that everything will happen according to God's plan.

Suresh Gopi had the other day told media that he would not refuse if given the union minister post. 'Films are my passion. This will be informed to the leaders. Cinema is like parents. Will do more films. He said that he has reply in his hand to Chennithala's remark that he garnered votes of being an actor. Presently not saying. Priority will be given to schemes for the welfare of women. Will discuss this with the Prime Minister. An attempt will be made to extend the Kochi Metro Rail to Thrissur. A new script will be made to conduct Thrissur Pooram. As an MP, can do many things along with many departments. It needs the support of 10 departments and this is to make possible the projects submitted to the state.

Will try for a two-lane flyover from Thrissur Mannuthy through Puzhakal Padam to Changaramkulam and then to Ponnani. Through this, the traffic jam and pollution problem in Thrissur will be avoided. When this is brought in, business on the Choondal side will be slightly dampened. Suresh Gopi said the project will be implemented with the consent of everyone.

He had also said that he would not hesitate to be the face of BJP in Kerala in the assembly elections in Kerala.

Suresh Gopi said that he is reaching the Lok Sabha not only as a representative of Thrissur but also as a representative of South India. Issues including AIIMS will be raised in the assembly. As the capital of cultural activities, will try to provide everything Thrissur needs. I don't want to be limited as a union minister. He said that he will abide by the decision of the party.
