'Strict action against unauthorized absence from work, it is important to treat patients kindly,' says Health Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George said that treating patients with kindness is an important thing. They should be assured of quality treatment. Do not refer patients unnecessarily. Working hours of hospitals should be ensured. The minister also instructed to avoid the situation of hospitals being locked. The minister was addressing the doctors of various hospitals of the health department online.

Employees shall not be absent from work without permission. Around 2000 employees including doctors are out of service. This is an issue that affects public health practices and treatment. Therefore, strict action will be taken against those who take leave unwantedly.

The government policy is to improve the quality of hospitals and provide better facilities to patients. The treatment facilities have been greatly enhanced by Ardram Mission. Public Health Act should be strictly implemented. Medical officers play an important role in public health law. According to the Public Health Act, the committees should meet and take further action. Seraphic audit was conducted in all hospitals. Security arrangements should be ensured accordingly. Such meetings should be convened at the district and local levels as per the Conference of State Medical Officers.

Development work in hospitals should not be interrupted. Problems can be solved through collective action. Dialysis system will be strengthened in the state. Mobile units will be set up in hospitals where there is no space. Labor rooms are set up as per target standards. Infection control protocol should be followed.

The services rendered by doctors are very valuable. During this period, the health sector faced many challenges. To prevent infectious diseases like Covid, Zika, monkeypox and Nipah. Prevention of infectious diseases is given great importance. Department of Health is not an individual. It is like a chain. The Minister urged everyone to work together.
