THRISSUR: A case has been registered against 20 people, including Chairman Jose Valloor for the ruckus inside the DCC office on Friday. The case is on the complaint of DCC Secretary Sajeevan Kuriachira. In the complaint, it is alleged that a gang detained many office bearers and physically tortured them. The police have registered a case imposing bailable sections.

Meanwhile, the state congress leadership will immediately intervene in the issue and is likely to assign a senior congress leader, the charge of DCC to mend things up in Thrissur. Chalakudy MP Benny Behanan is likely to be considered for the post. General Secretary KC Venugopal, who is in charge of the organization, has asked the KPCC president K Sudhakaran in Delhi to investigate and submit a report.

Talks to pacify both the Muraleedharan faction and the Jose Valloor faction will be held on Saturday under the mediation of a prominent leader. The infighting within the congress in Thrissur aggravated after BJP registered a historic win pushing Congress to the third spot. In the meeting held on Friday, both factions within the congress joined the melee turning the situation worse. It is alleged that DCC Secretary Sajeevan Kuriachira got roughed up by supporters of Jose Valloor.
