KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate on Friday questioned Soubin Shahir in a financial fraud complaint related to the financing of the movie ‘Manjummel Boys’. The interrogation took place at the ED's Kochi office on Friday. It is reported that ED will summon Soubin again for questioning. Shaun Antony, one of the producers of the film, had earlier been questioned by the ED in this case.

It was on June 11 that ED initiated an investigation into the case, citing financial regulations and black money transactions. Police had earlier filed a case against the producers of this movie for financial fraud. In the complaint, it was said that one of the producers who invested Rs 7 crore in the movie was not given his due share despite the movie making a profit of Rs 250 crore.

The complainant Siraj confessed that he paid Rs 7 crore to the movie and out of this Rs 5 crore ninety-five lakh was transferred through the bank. The court had frozen the bank accounts of Parava Films (Soubin) and partner Shaun Antony.

At the same time, the police report revealed the whole incident as a pre-planned fraud by the producers. The total budget of the film was only Rs 18.65 crore but the producers lied that it was 22 crores.
