KOZHIKODE: Chandrika, the mouthpiece of the Indian Union Muslim League party in Kerala, went for a no-holds-barred criticism at CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday. In the editorial, the Kozhikode-based news daily said Pinarayi Vijayan was an alter ego of PM Narendra Modi. The paper also took a jibe at the chief minister calling him ‘PM Modi in dhoti’, implying that the Kerala CM’s policies were no different from the ‘draconian’ one used by the prime minister.

EXCERPTS FROM EDITORIAL:

“In all the CPM meetings, criticism is being hurled at CM Pinarayi Vijayan, while he is busy pointing blame at other parties. The CM is caught in the mirth of power that he is even detached about the criticism from his cohorts, who all were now aware of the terrible governance of the state.

The big efforts to take the Muslim league in their stride failed miserably. The chief minister and his PR team even tried some obscene advertisements on the religious news dailies to influence a special section of votes. However, the current election defeat was due to poor administrative work. The government is well aware of the future election debacle awaiting them, and taking note of this, they have now moved a bill for the delimitation of wards.

Even in idle talks, CPM leaders admit that if faced with another defeat in elections, CPM will surely end up in some museum. Keeping the jokes aside, the party is going redundant and will face serious issues soon. Vellapally. The man behind the renaissance wall in the CPM-organized event in Kerala is now the bridge through which the Ezhava votes go to the BJP. The Ezhava votes that used to be the backbone of CPM have now taken a volte-face to go along with Sangh Parivar and Vellapally is the architect.

With all criticism railing against the chief minister, even CPM State Secretary MV Govindan is left with no option but to remain befuddled."

At the same time, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the other day that the face of the Muslim League is changing with the Lok Sabha elections and UDF cannot be proud of winning 18 seats in the elections. He was inaugurating the general meeting of the NGO Union State Conference at Kozhikode Beach.

CM Pinarayi Vijayan alleged the UDF of making an unholy nexus with SDPI and Jamaat-e-Islami to win votes and he also raised apprehension about BJP getting more acceptance in Kerala. CM Pinarayi said it was not any anti-incumbent factor but the special situation of Lok Sabha elections which favoured UDF.
